(Denver) – Before an audience that included state senators and the senior commanders of the Army and Air Force bases in Colorado, the House of Representatives observed its annual Military Day today, honoring those from Colorado who have died wearing our nation’s uniform and all Coloradans who have served in our armed forces.

Reps. Nancy Todd (D-Aurora) and Amy Stephens (R-Monument) were the principal sponsors of the resolution formally designating today as Military, Veterans and MIA/POW Appreciation Day.

A resolution by Reps. Sal Pace (D-Pueblo) and Keith Swerdfeger (R-Pueblo West) commemorated Pueblo’s special connection to the U.S.S. Pueblo, a Navy ship captured by North Korea 44 years ago today.

And Reps. Su Ryden (D-Aurora) and Mark Barker (R-Colorado Springs) offered a resolution reaffirming the state’s commitment to build a memorial honoring the Coloradans who died in the world wars, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan.
