(April 9) – The House gave final approval today to the Advanced Industries Export Accelerator Act, part of the House Democrats’ package of bills to accelerate the state’s economy and connect more Coloradans to good jobs.

HB13-1193, sponsored by Reps. Tracy Kraft-Tharp (D-Arvada) and Mike McLachlan (D-Durango), will provide matching seed money, up to $15,000, to help qualifying Colorado advanced-industries businesses develop an export operation. The program would include training and consultation services through the state Office of Economic Development and International Trade.

Eligible companies would be in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, bioscience, electronics, energy and natural resources, infrastructure engineering, and information technology.

“Every product grown, raised or manufactured in Colorado has a potential international market,” Rep. McLachlan said. “This bill will help grow one of the keys to our economic future — our advanced industries, which are found in every part of Colorado.”

The vote was 39-23.
