(Oct. 18) – Reps. Max Tyler and Brittany Pettersen congratulated the students of Lakewood High School today after the singer Katy Perry announced that Lakewood was the winner of a national competition to create a video of her current hit single, “Roar.”
The prize means Perry will stage a concert at LHS on Oct. 25. The show will be broadcast on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” and students who organized the video said they would seek to have the event include a nationwide appeal for contributions to the relief and recovery effort for last month’s Colorado flooding.
“Congratulations to our LHS kids for putting together that fabulous video,” said Rep. Max Tyler, whose district includes the school. “I’m especially proud of Lakewood’s desire to use their star turn to support Colorado’s flood relief efforts. Getting Katy Perry on board for the Colorado flood relief effort will bring money and attention to hard-hit areas of our state.”
About 2,000 LHS students participated in the video, one of more than 1,000 submitted from schools in 44 states. Here is a link to the video, which the students shot on Spirit Day of homecoming week.
“The Lakewood Tigers do ‘Roar’ — what could be more perfect?” said Rep. Pettersen, who has many LHS students among her constituents. “I couldn’t be prouder of our LHS kids.”
