(Jan. 14) –Assistant Majority Leader Dan Pabon (D-Denver) introduced a bill today that would create a one day exemption from state sales tax for school supplies, clothing, and sports equipment.

The bill was introduced shortly after Rep. Clarice Navarro-Ratzlaff (R-Pueblo) brought forward a bill to create a one day exemption from state sales tax for gun purchases.

“My bill helps Colorado families reduce the cost of back to school shopping,” Rep. Pabon said. “It will reduce the cost of school supplies, clothing, and sports equipment to give hard working families a break. While we are focused on making sure families have the school supplies they need, my Republican colleagues are focused on solutions in search of problems and retreading divisive issues.”

Rep. Pabon’s bill has been assigned to the Finance Committee.
