(Nov. 17) – Rep. Joann Ginal (D-Fort Collins) is participating in the 2014 Western Legislative Academy hosted by the Council of State Governments West, a nonpartisan group serving state legislatures in 13 Western states.
The academy, which runs today through Thursday in Colorado Springs, includes training sessions in communications, negotiations, ethics, time management and leadership. The academy accepts state legislators in their first four years of service, and admission is competitive.
“I’m honored to have been chosen,” Rep. Ginal said on her way to Colorado Springs. “The skills I will improve at CSG will help me to better serve my constituents.”
Rep. Ginal was first elected in 2012 and is beginning her second two-year term representing House District 52, which includes eastern Fort Collins.
Two other House Democrats, Reps. Tracy Kraft-Tharp (D-Arvada) and Brittany Pettersen (D-Lakewood), are also participating in the CSG event. The academy’s main sponsor is El Pomar Foundation, a Colorado Springs-based organization dedicated to helping other nonprofit groups.
