(Nov. 6) –The Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce has honored Rep. Jessie Danielson, D-Wheat Ridge, for her “leadership and work done on behalf of women and business.”
Rep. Danielson was the only member of the House of Representatives to be recognized as a 2015 Champion of Change.
“I’m honored to receive this award, and I pledge to continue my efforts on behalf of all women in the workforce,” said Rep. Danielson, who in the 2015 session fought to preserve the Colorado Pay Equity Commission, the only forum in Colorado where businesses, employees and leaders in the community have been coming together to identify the problems of pay inequality and work toward women finally achieving equal pay for equal work.
A 50-state study this year found that the pay of Colorado women compared to men in the same jobs fell by 2 cents, to 78 cents for every dollar made by men. The national average was 82 cents.
The awards were presented Thursday evening at a reception in the Boettcher Mansion, the governor’s official residence in Denver.
