(Jan. 25) – Rep. Jeni Arndt’s first bill of the 2016 legislative session sailed through its first committee today.

HB16-1042, sponsored by Rep. Arndt, D-Fort Collins, creates an exemption from state liquor licensing requirements for institutions of higher education that offer beer-making classes. The exemption allows students and teachers 21 years or older to taste the beer they make for teaching and/or research purposes.
“Everyone who loves Colorado beer already knows that when it comes to brewing, taste is everything,” Rep. Arndt said after her bill passed the House Education Committee on a 10-0 vote. “This bill just removes an unintended hurdle in state law that prevented student brewers of drinking age from legally tasting their product.”
