(April 18) – The House gave final approval this morning to a public safety bill by Rep. Dominick Moreno which would create immunity for a person who reports an emergency drug or alcohol overdose.

“We should be sending people in danger to hospitals, not jail cells,” said Rep. Moreno, D-Commerce City. “This bill helps ensure that people feel safe to report emergencies and get the care they need.”

HB16-1390 also would protect an underage person who reports that another underage person needs medical assistance due to alcohol or marijuana consumption.

After today’s 58-6 vote, the bill heads to the Senate.
