(April 15) – A bill by Rep. Su Ryden, D-Aurora, that would allow Coloradans to mail their November ballots free of charge passed the House on second reading this morning.
“Voting is a fundamental right of Americans,” said Rep. Ryden. “This is a bill that will allow even more voter choice as we go forward with our elections. It’s incumbent upon us to make the process as easy and painless as possible for Coloradans to exercise their constitutional right to decide who represents them.”

HB16-1300 ensures every county in the state has at least one twenty- four hour secure drop box and gives counties the option of paying for return postage on ballots. Counties will be able to purchase the secure drop boxes using federal funds designed for this purpose.

The vote sends the bill to the House floor for third reading.
