(June 10) – A bill by Majority Leader Crisanta Duran to place protections around fantasy sports in order to ensure Coloradans can continue to play and have a fair chance to win was signed into law by Gov. John Hickenlooper this morning.
“This law ensures that Coloradans who want to play fantasy sports can continue to do so,” said Majority Leader Duran, who shared prime sponsorship of the bill with Rep. Cole Wist, R-Centennial. “We worked together to create legislation that makes sure anyone who chooses to play has a fair shot at winning. I know I’m looking forward to next season.”
HB16-1404 declares that a fantasy contest is a game of skill and puts in place several consumer protections to ensure all players compete on a level playing field. More than 800,000 Coloradans play fantasy sports on a regular basis.
