(April 21) – Speaker Crisanta Duran said she is “absolutely thrilled” by today’s report showing Colorado with the lowest unemployment rate in the country.
According to the state Department of Labor and Employment’s monthly survey of households, released this morning, the unemployment rate in Colorado decreased three-tenths of a percentage point in March to 2.6 percent. It’s the lowest unemployment rate in the 50 states, and the lowest in Colorado since the survey began in 1976.
“I am absolutely thrilled,” Speaker Duran said. “This is so much more than a statistic – I’m celebrating all the families across Colorado who are enjoying greater economic security. I’m proud to have played a role in years of workforce development and job creation legislation that has helped make this historic day possible.
“I remain committed to solutions that will make our economy even stronger,” she continued. “One of those solutions is a comprehensive, statewide transportation plan that supports our continued growth and prosperity. Unless we invest in our future, our success will be impossible to maintain.”
