(April 27) – A bill by Rep. Jeni Arndt, D-Fort Collins, to implement part of the state water plan by funding crucial water projects across the state passed the House unanimously this morning.
“This year’s water project funding bill helps to ensure a sustainable water future for Colorado,” said Rep. Arndt.
HB17-1248 designates funding for specific water-related projects over the next year, including an irrigation improvement cost sharing program, watershed restoration program, water loss control initiative, alternative agricultural transfer methods, water quality control, flood and drought response, and fish and wildlife resources.
The Colorado Water Plan was developed to determine how to implement water supply planning solutions that meet Colorado’s future water needs while supporting healthy watersheds and the environment; robust recreation and tourism economies; vibrant and sustainable cities; and viable and productive agriculture.
Rep. Arndt has taken the lead on many pieces of legislation to implement the plan and ensure a sustainable future.
The 65-0 vote sends the bill to the Senate.
