(March 12) – The House Finance Committee passed a bill today led by Speaker Crisanta Duran and Rep. Faith Winter to expand child care tax credits for Colorado families.

“We should be rewarding hard work, and that starts with addressing the high cost of child care for more Coloradans,” said Speaker Duran, D-Denver. “This bill will ensure that more families have the opportunity to be able to afford the high cost of child care and stay in the workforce.”

“This is an incredibly important bill for Colorado families, our economy, and our workforce,” said Rep. Winter, D-Westminster. “I understand the struggles families face just to keep up with the high cost of child care, which is harming our workforce and could potentially lead to a brain drain in our state.”

The House Finance Committee passed the bill on a bipartisan vote of 9-3.

HB18-1208 now goes to the Appropriations Committee.
