(Nov. 13) – Today, Speaker-designate KC Becker appointed Rep. Daneya Esgar, D-Pueblo and Rep. Chris Hansen, D-Denver to serve on the Joint Budget Committee for the 72nd General Assembly.
“Coloradans in rural, urban and suburban communities will be well served with Reps. Esgar and Hansen at the helm of the JBC, as proven leaders who have been successful at building bipartisan relationships and solving problems,” said Speaker-designate KC Becker, D-Boulder.
When they kick off the JBC process Nov. 15, Reps. Esgar and Hansen will occupy the two House majority seats on the six-member JBC. They fill vacancies left by term-limited Rep. Millie Hamner, D-Dillon, the outgoing JBC chairwoman, and Treasurer-elect Dave Young, D-Greeley. Hamner and Young were instrumental in moving forward the House Democratic agenda and crafting strong state budgets for a strong Colorado over the last four years.
“I’m honored to join the Joint Budget Committee and to continue to bring a southern Colorado perspective to the state capitol,” said Rep. Esgar. “I will continue to reach across the aisle to find solutions for the problems facing Coloradans, and will fight to expand opportunity for hardworking families in every corner of the state.”
“I am excited for the opportunity to serve on the JBC, and look forward to working with my colleagues to craft a budget that works for all Coloradans and reflects the values of our state,” said Rep. Hansen.
