Becker’s Bill to Protect Against Air Pollution Signed by Governor

(May 18) – Governor Hickenlooper signed Majority Leader KC Becker’s bipartisan bill today to increase fees for stationary sources of air pollution. According to recent reports, Colorado continues to suffer from poor air quality.

“Protecting Colorado’s air quality isn’t a partisan issue,” Rep. Becker, D-Boulder said. “This bill is about protecting public health, our seniors, our children and the air we breathe. Dangerous carbon emissions continue to accelerate the impacts of climate change and we must push back on polluters.”

HB18-1400, sponsored by Rep. Becker and Rep. Hugh McKean, R-Loveland will go toward funding the division that monitors air pollution in Colorado.

Federal attacks on clean air and fuel efficiency standards continue to threaten Colorado’s clean air, precious water and way of life.
