Bill to Continue Make-A-Wish Foundation Tax Checkoff Passes Finance Committee

February 1, 2012

(Denver) –Rep. Andy Kerr’s bill to continue the “Make-a-Wish Foundation” income tax voluntary contribution checkoff passed the Finance Committee unanimously today.

The Make-a-Wish Foundation grants over 250 wishes to sick Colorado kids each year. The organization receives no government funding and relies on fundraising efforts and contributions from individuals and organizations.

HB 1096 sponsored by Rep. Andy Kerr (D-Lakewood) will continue the checkoff for the organization on the state income tax form–adding awareness and opportunity for Coloradans to donate to this foundation.

Rep. Andy Kerr applauded the members of the Finance committee for their vote and their support–as they all were added as co-sponsors to the bill.

“The Make-a-Wish Foundation is a great organization that provides light and sunshine into kids’ lives in a very difficult time,” Rep. A. Kerr said. “I am happy to sponsor this bill that will increase awareness and hopefully contributions to continue granting Colorado’s sick children their wishes–it’s the least we can do.”
