Greeley CDOT Employee Recognized on Opening Day

(Jan. 8) – In his speech today opening the 2014 session of the House of Representatives,  Speaker Mark Ferrandino (D-Denver) recognized a Greeley CDOT employee for his actions during the September flood.

Keith Sheaffer, a Greeley Program Engineer with CDOT, served as the operations lead for the incident force in charge of rebuilding roads. In addition to overseeing the effort to rebuild the roads, Scheaffer spent many of his weekends visiting townhalls and other events in order to keep the public informed on CDOT’s progress and what to expect in the future.

“Keith went above and beyond the call of duty in helping to keep the public informed throughout the recovery process,” said Rep. Dave Young (D-Greeley), who is co-chairman of the bipartisan Flood Disaster Study Committee. “His and everyone at CDOT’s commitment is why all roads opened ahead of schedule.”

Speaker Ferrandino emphasized that bills designed to assist with flood recovery and prevention will be the first taken up this legislative session.
