(May 20) – Gov. John Hickenlooper signed Rep. Daneya Esgar’s bill today that will continue the successful ReHire program until 2019. The program has already helped more than 1,000 veterans and adults find work.
“When someone gains a job, they also gain confidence, self-sufficiency and stability,” said Rep. Esgar, D-Pueblo. “It’s been amazing to see what ReHire has done for the people of Pueblo and I’m excited to see its success in the coming years. We know the economic recovery hasn’t reached enough of our families in Pueblo, and this bill is one step to get us there.”
ReHire focuses on job coaching, skills training and transitional job opportunities for under- and unemployed Coloradans. Working through local agencies such as Catholic Charities in Pueblo, the program prioritizes veterans, Coloradans over age 50 and parents making child support payments.
HB16-1290 was signed at Habitat for Humanity in Colorado Springs.
