(Mar. 27) – Bills to rename Adams State College in Alamosa and Metropolitan State College of Denver passed the state House of Representatives this morning and were sent to the Senate.
Under HB12-1080, sponsored by Rep. Ed Vigil, Adams State would become Adams State University, and SB12-148, by Rep. Crisanta Duran, would turn Metro State into Metropolitan State University of Denver.
Both name changes reflect expanded course offerings and degree programs.
“This name change will help give the students and alumni of Adams State the respect they have earned,” said Rep. Vigil (D-Fort Garland). “It will also help us recruit top-notch faculty, making an Adams State education even more valuable.”
“We’re a step closer to the end of a long process with lots of community input,” said Rep. Duran (D-Denver).
