(Denver) – Jonathan Singer, a Longmont social caseworker, is the newest member of the Colorado House of Representatives and the 32nd member of the House Democratic caucus.
Rep. Singer, 32, was selected on Saturday, Jan. 21, by a Boulder County Democratic Party vacancy committee. He will complete the term of Deb Gardner, who resigned her House District 11 seat on Jan. 9 to become a Boulder County commissioner.
Rep. Singer said his priorities include boosting state support of education, expanding access to affordable health care and helping Coloradans get jobs.
His selection must be certified by the state secretary of state, and a formal swearing-in by the chief justice of the state Supreme Court will follow. The process is expected to be complete this week.
“With the legislative session already under way, I’m eager to get to work,” Rep. Singer said. “I am really ready to hit the ground running to help increase opportunities for families in District 11.”
“I welcome Jonathan to our caucus and look forward to working with him,” said Rep. Mark Ferrandino, the House Democratic leader.
