(Nov. 3) – Rep. Jenise May (D-Aurora), a member of the budget-writing Joint Budget Committee, thanked Gov. John Hickenlooper’s office today after it released his proposed state budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year, which starts next June.
Reflecting the continuing growth of Colorado’s economy, the governor’s office of State Planning and Budgeting is proposing a $26.8 billion budget that includes an additional $588 million in state spending for K-12 and higher education and a $137 million refund to Colorado taxpayers under the provisions of the Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights.
“Though this is far from the end of the process, the OSPB has gotten us off to a good beginning,” Rep. May said. “The governor’s proposal will inform our decisions as we go about drafting the state budget for 2015-16.”
