Chris Kennedy represents House District 23, including Lakewood & parts of unincorporated Jefferson County. This year, beginning his second term, he serves as Assistant Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Chair of the State, Veterans, & Military Affairs Committee, and a member of the Appropriations Committee.
Rep. Kennedy’s top goals are to make sure every hard-working Coloradan has the ability to thrive and enjoy our unique quality of life. With the rapid growth we’ve been experiencing, he is committed to addressing the high cost of living—including health care, child care, housing, and higher education—and to protecting our clean air and water and our beautiful public lands for the next generation.
After launching a career as a structural engineer, he gravitated toward public service and became an active volunteer for local campaigns and pro-environment initiatives. As an aide to Rep. Max Tyler as well as to Reps. Millie Hamner, Matt Jones and Jeanne Labuda; chairman of the Jefferson County Democratic Party; policy analyst for former Speaker Mark Ferrandino; and manager of the 2014 re-election campaign of Congressman Ed Perlmutter, Rep. Kennedy compiled an extensive record of policy and political experience before throwing his hat in the ring in House District 23 in 2015.
Rep. Kennedy is a lifelong Coloradan and has master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Colorado.
