Rep. Marc Snyder
Marc Snyder serves HD 18 which covers the downtown and western areas of Colorado Springs, and Manitou Springs.. He is a first time state-elected official. He serves on the Business Affairs and Labor Committee and the Finance Committee.
Folks in the Pikes Peak region are most likely to recognize him from his 12-year tenure – six of those as mayor – on the Manitou Springs City Council, from which he retired from in January 2016. He was elected city-wide five times in Manitou Springs: twice as an at-large city councilor and three times as Mayor. While on city council, they were able to secure grants for flood damage and mitigation that will protect Manitou for generations; Marijuana dispensaries now contribute over $1 million every year to the city’s coffers; and they expanded open space to Iron Mountain and the Manitou Incline.
By profession, Rep. Snyder is an attorney. His practice is in wills, trusts, and estates law, specializing in helping families with adults or children who have disabilities.
He obtained his law degree from Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia in 1987. He began his legal career as an attorney for a title services company in Rockville, Maryland.
After marrying wife Kelly in El Paso, Texas on March 19, 1995, they began their life together in Colorado shortly thereafter. He then launched his law practice. They have two daughters who were raised in Manitou Springs and are currently attending college.
