Rep. Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez
Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez is a third generation North Denver resident of Colorado House District 4 and is a first-time elected official. Serena has been appointed to the House Judiciary and the Public Health Care and Human Services Committees
Serena attended public schools and graduated from North High School where she met her husband. She also helped her parents run several small businesses in the district and has been an advocate as a parent and neighbor. Growing up, Serena’s parents taught her the importance of helping others and she knew early in her life that she wanted to be a public servant would work to improve education and essential services for youth and families in her community. Serena believes that quality education is the most effective path to equity and opportunity in Colorado.
She now works with youth and families to make sure their needs are met through a human services lens, a criminal justice lens and a mental health lens.
Representative Gonzalez-Gutierrez graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and began a career in human services. She worked s a victim advocate, supporting domestic violence victims, and as a youth counselor, social caseworker and most recently served as the Director for the Denver Collaborative Partnership.
