(Dec. 12) – Rep. Dan Pabon, D-Denver, was appointed speaker pro tempore today by Speaker-designate Dickey Lee Hullinghorst, D-Boulder.
The speaker pro tem presides over the House when the speaker is absent. It is the only leadership position not elected by the majority caucus; it is the speaker’s choice alone.
“Dan and I share the goal of advancing legislation that will strengthen our middle class and assure that Colorado’s re-emerging prosperity is shared by all its citizens,” Speaker-designate Hullinghorst said. “I have great confidence in his wisdom and steady hand to guide the House when I cannot.”
“I’m grateful for the trust Rep. Hullinghorst is placing in me,” Rep. Pabon said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to work with the speaker, Majority Leader Duran, other leadership and all my colleagues to develop and pass a comprehensive agenda that improves the lives of all Coloradans.”
Rep. Pabon will also serve as a member of the Business Affairs & Labor, Finance and Appropriations Committees.
Rep. Pabon will begin his third term representing House District 4 when the 70th General Assembly convenes in January. In the 69th General Assembly he was assistant majority leader and served on Finance and Appropriations.
