In 2007, the federal Bureau of Justice Assistance provided a grant to create the VINE system, which allows crime victims to obtain free information on the custody status of inmates in county jails.

(April 10) – A bill to create a compensation fund to ensure that sexual assault victims do not have to pay for necessary medical care and treatment related to a sexual assault passed the House on second reading today. Federal law prevents hospitals from charging sexual assault survivors for their rape kits, but the survivors
