He then left his engineering job to focus on solving public policy problems. After working for leaders like Max Tyler and Ed Perlmutter, Rep. Kennedy decided to run for office himself.

Rep. Kennedy received his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering in 2002 from the University of Colorado Boulder. After college, Rep. Kennedy moved to Lakewood which has been his home ever since. Chris and his wife, Kyra, got married in May of 2020 in a small ceremony in their backyard. Their family includes two dogs, two cats, two goats, and several chickens.
