(May 21) – A bill to improve monitoring of the “talent pipeline” feeding Colorado’s workforce was signed today by Gov. John Hickenlooper.
SB14-205, sponsored in the House by Rep. Dave Young (D-Greeley), directs the state departments of Labor and Employment, Higher Education and Education, and the state Office of Economic Development and International Trade, to work together to issue an annual Colorado Talent Report identifying workforce strengths and needs across key industries and occupations.
“These reports, coordinated across several state agencies, will help students prepare for successful careers by letting them align their coursework with real-world needs,” Rep. Young said. “Schools will be able to adjust their course offerings to respond to changes in the marketplace. And employers will get graduates with the skills and training they’re looking for. Everybody wins.”
