Bipartisan Bill to Make Property Tax Exemption for Ag Equipment Permanent Passes

DENVER, CO – The General Assembly today sent legislation to Governor Jared Polis that will support farmers and the agricultural industry by making the business personal property tax exemption for agricultural equipment permanent.

“Our farmers are also feeling the brunt of the affordability crisis, which is why we’re making a property tax exemption for agricultural equipment permanent,” said Rep. Junie Joseph, D-Boulder. “I’m proud that we were able to get this bill passed this special session so we can make Colorado a more affordable place for agriculture production.”

HB24B-1003, also sponsored by Representative Matt Soper, R-Delta, would make the business personal property tax exemption for agricultural equipment used in a controlled environmental agricultural (CEA) facility permanent. It would also expand the exemption to include equipment in commercial greenhouses that grow food for human or livestock consumption.
