House Dem Leadership, Boulder Representatives’ Statements on Boulder Attack

DENVER, CO - House Democratic leadership and Boulder representatives today released the following statements following the attack on Pearl Street in Boulder: Statement from Speaker Julie McCluskie, D-Dillon, and Majority Leader Monica Duran, D-Wheat Ridge: “We are shocked by this violent attack on the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder where the Run for Their Lives group held their peaceful, weekly gathering to raise awareness of the Israeli hostages. We thank local law enforcement for their prompt response to the scene and sincerely hope for the full recovery of the individuals harmed. As we closely follow this investigation, we assert once again that hate and antisemitism have no home in Colorado.”

Statement from Representative Junie Joseph, D-Boulder: “I am heartbroken by the horrific attack that took place this afternoon on the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder. What was intended to be a peaceful demonstration of solidarity was shattered by a senseless act of violence that left several individuals seriously injured.

“My heart is with the victims, their families, Colorado’s Jewish community, and all those who are grieving and shaken by this tragedy. I am also grateful to the first responders and law enforcement officers who acted swiftly to secure the scene. Today’s attack is not just an assault on individuals—it is an assault on the very values of inclusion, freedom and humanity that bind us together. We stand together against hate in all its forms.”

Statement from Representative Lesley Smith, D-Boulder: “Our community has been through a lot of tragedy, and I’m devastated by this latest act of violence. Although we are resilient, these heinous acts take a grave toll on our collective sense of safety and community. I am grateful to law enforcement for their swift response and stand prepared to support Boulder and Colorado’s Jewish community as we reckon with such an egregious act.”
